Iran Confirms Soleimani’s Assassination

Xinhua News Agency reported on February 17 that the Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) confirmed the death of Qassem Soleimani, commander of the Basij militia, in a joint US-Israeli “terrorist attack.”

The IRGC issued a statement saying that Soleimani’s assassination demonstrates the significant role the Basij militia played in the all-out battle against US and Israeli forces and their mercenaries.

On February 28, the United States and Israel launched a joint attack on Iran. Iran subsequently launched multiple missile and drone strikes targeting Israeli and US assets and bases in the Middle East.
