American Carpenter Shot Dead in the Head in the Philippines
According to reports from Philippine media on the 15th, Kent Carpenter, a 73-year-old renowned American marine biologist, was shot and killed at his residence on an island in the Philippines on the 12th. Philippine police have established a special task force to investigate the case.
Reports indicate that a preliminary police investigation showed that three masked men forcibly entered Carpenter’s residence on Negros Island in the central Philippines on the evening of the 12th and shot him in the head, resulting in his death at the scene.
Philippine National Police spokesperson Colonel Alan Co told the media that the masked men left the scene with a laptop, cash, and a backpack. Police initially suspect that the motive for the crime may have been robbery.
According to reports, Carpenter was a professor at Old Dominion University in Virginia, USA, and had long focused on marine biodiversity research. At the time of the incident, he was collaborating with Silliman University in the Philippines on a long-term scientific research mission in the area.
