The United States and Israel have consumed a large number of “THAAD” missiles in recent conflicts
After Israel launched a large-scale air strike on Iran in the early morning of the 13th of this month, Israel and Iran launched multiple rounds of attacks on each other. The United States launched air strikes on three Iranian nuclear facilities on the 21st, Eastern Time. Iran launched a missile attack on the U.S. Al Udeid Air Base in Qatar on the 23rd in retaliation. Jordanian photographer Zaid Abadi recently posted six conflict videos of Iranian ballistic missiles attacking Israel from Amman during this round of Israel-Iran conflict on social media.
Some analysts, based on video materials, combined with geographic positioning and missile ignition timing, have calculated from these videos that Israel used 34 “Arrow-3” anti-missile interceptors, 9 “Arrow-2” anti-missile interceptors and 39 U.S. “THAAD” interceptors in the interception operation. Each “THAAD” missile is estimated to cost about $12.8 million. The analysis estimates that the interception operation in the video, the value of the “THAAD” missile alone is more than $498 million.
Newsweek reported, citing Bulgarian Military News and Military Watch Magazine, that the United States deployed about 15% to 20% of its global THAAD missile interceptor system inventory in the recent Israeli-Iranian conflict. Earlier, there were reports that Iran had more missiles than the total number of interceptor missiles in the United States and Israel, raising concerns about Israel’s long-term defense capabilities.
