The conflict between the Houthi armed forces and Israel in Yemen has further escalated. According to multiple media reports on the 19th, the Houthi armed forces launched a ballistic missile at Israel that day, and the Israeli army immediately dispatched the air force to bomb many areas controlled by the Houthi armed forces in Yemen. Both sides said they would respond to each other’s actions.

The US government also announced sanctions on several individuals and institutions of the Houthi armed forces on the same day. UN Secretary-General Guterres called on all parties to exercise restraint and avoid undermining the political settlement process of the Yemen conflict.

According to Qatar’s Al Jazeera TV on the 19th, air defense alarms suddenly sounded in many places in central Israel in the early morning of that day. Yemeni Houthi armed spokesman Yahya Saraya announced that the organization launched a hypersonic ballistic missile to attack military targets near the Israeli capital Tel Aviv.

The Times of Israel reported on the 19th that the Israel Defense Forces said that a ballistic missile launched from Yemen was intercepted before entering Israeli airspace, but some missile fragments still hit a school in the central Israeli city of Ramat Gan. The school building was severely damaged, but there were no casualties. The mayor of Ramat Gan said the attack caused losses of about $11 million.

According to Al Jazeera on the 19th, the U.S. Treasury Department announced on the same day that it would impose sanctions on several Houthi officials and companies related to the organization, including Hashim Madani, president of the Sanaa branch of the Central Bank of Yemen, which is under the control of the Houthi armed forces, and accused them of helping the organization obtain “dual-use materials and weapon parts.” The U.S. Treasury Department said that these sanctions are aimed at undermining the Houthi armed forces’ efforts to “obtain additional income.”

The United Nations News Network reported on the 19th that UN Secretary-General Guterres issued a statement on the same day, saying that he was “deeply concerned” about Israel’s air strikes on many places in Yemen earlier that day, and also expressed concern about the Houthi armed forces launching ballistic missiles at Israel.
