President Tokayev highly appreciates SCO’s potential
The head of state of Kazakhstan received the Secretary-General of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Nurlan Yermekbayev.
Nurlan Yermekbayev reported to the President on the current activities of the SCO and priority areas of cooperation.
President Tokayev stressed the importance of the organization and highly appreciated its great potential in the political, economic and cultural fields. He also paid special attention to regional and global security issues.
The President stressed the importance of further improving the activities of the SCO, strengthening ties with international organizations, and promoting the “SCO Initiative on the Unity of States for a Just, Harmonious and Development World” proposed and adopted by Kazakhstan.
According to the decision of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, Nurlan Yermekbayev will take office as Secretary-General of the SCO on January 1, 2025.
