The statement read, “With profound sorrow,” it announced that Khamenei had died in attacks by the United States and Israel, stating that “this heinous crime will be severely punished,” and that “we will, with all our strength and determination, make the perpetrators and masterminds of this heinous crime pay a heavy price.”

The statement said the Iranian people would unite to overcome this difficult time.

The statement said, “We have lost our great leader, and we deeply mourn him.”

The statement also said that the Iranian people will “severely punish the perpetrators, with the utmost severity, decisiveness, and pain.” Iran will “resolutely crack down on domestic and foreign conspiracies and punish the aggressors.”

The Iranian Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps claimed that the Iranian armed forces’ “most intense offensive in history” is about to begin, targeting Israeli and American bases.
