Iranian President Peszhichian issued a statement today (March 1) on the assassination of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei, expressing deep condolences and emphasizing that Iran will pursue those responsible. The statement said that Khamenei, during his tenure, led Iran along the path pioneered by former Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khomeini, upholding opposition to oppression and safeguarding national independence and dignity. The statement described Khamenei’s assassination as a major challenge to the Islamic world.

The statement indicated that Iran considers holding those responsible for this incident accountable as its “responsibility and legitimate right,” and will take necessary measures in response. The statement called for national unity and stressed that Iran will continue to advance national affairs along the established path, maintaining national security and stability.
