Six in Ten Danes View the US as a Rival

A poll released by Danish Broadcasting Corporation on February 3rd revealed that 60% of Danes consider the United States a “rival,” while less than 20% view it as an “ally.” The poll, conducted by the analysis agency Epinion from January 21st to 28th, surveyed 1,053 Danes aged 18 and over. When asked whether they viewed the US as an ally or a rival in the current situation, 60% of respondents chose “rival,” while only 17% chose “ally.”

The poll showed that across different regions, genders, ages, and political affiliations, the majority of respondents viewed the US as a rival.

The Danish Ministry of Defense announced on February 2nd plans to build five warships capable of operating in Arctic conditions.

The Ministry of Defense stated that components for these warships will be manufactured in factories across the country, with final assembly completed at a state-owned shipyard in Friedrichshafen, northern Denmark. This will help strengthen Denmark’s defense capabilities.

The statement also said that the shipyard in Friedrichshafen will be upgraded, potentially enabling the construction of ships larger than the five warships in the future.

Since returning to the White House, Trump has repeatedly threatened to acquire Greenland, even going so far as to claim he would not rule out “taking the island by force.” Europe has reacted strongly, stating that the sovereignty of Greenland is non-negotiable.
