The number of inbound tourists in Macau increased by 14.9% year-on-year in the first half of the year

The reporter learned from the Statistics and Census Bureau of the Macau Special Administrative Region Government on July 24 that the number of inbound tourists in the first half of 2025 totaled 19,218,540, an increase of 14.9% year-on-year.

According to statistics, there were 11,182,913 non-overnight tourists and 8,035,627 overnight tourists, up 25.8% and 2.6% respectively from the same period last year.

According to the source of tourists, the number of mainland tourists increased by 19.3% year-on-year to 13,767,810 in the first half of the year, and the number of individual tourists was 7,412,318, up 24.6%. Driven by the 57.0% year-on-year increase in tourists in Zhuhai, the number of tourists in the nine cities in the Pearl River Delta in the Greater Bay Area increased by 25.7% to 7,016,216. The number of tourists in the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (3,647,321) and the number of tourists in Taiwan (461,735) increased by 1.1% and 14.0% respectively from the same period last year.

In the first half of the year, there were 1,341,674 international tourists, an increase of 14.8% year-on-year.

According to statistics from entry channels, the number of passengers entering by land in the first half of the year reached 15,780,124, an increase of 20.4% year-on-year, of which passengers entering through Guanzha and Hengqin Port recorded an increase of 25.5% and 40.6% respectively; passengers entering by sea and air decreased by 5.2% and 4.1% year-on-year respectively.

In June 2025, there were 2,891,003 inbound tourists, an increase of 13.3% year-on-year; there were 1,611,641 non-overnight passengers and 1,279,362 overnight passengers, an increase of 22.5% and 3.6% respectively. (Source: Xinhua News Agency)
