Cambodian police raid fraud park

Cambodian police announced on March 8 local time that the Cambodian National Police General Department and Mondulkiri Provincial Police launched a joint operation on the 6th, raiding an online fraud den in Sen Monorom City of the province and arresting 258 foreigners, including 247 Chinese citizens.

After further investigation, the police found that 14 Chinese and Burmese nationals were suspected of using violence and forced labor. At present, the 14 suspects and 1 Chinese victim have been transferred to the Mondulkiri Provincial Police Station for further interrogation.

The remaining 243 foreigners (including 239 Chinese, 2 Burmese, 1 Malaysian, and 1 Vietnamese) have been transferred to the General Department of Immigration for follow-up processing.

Earlier, at the work summary meeting of the Cambodian Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications held on February 6 local time, Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet asked the postal and telecommunications departments to cooperate with relevant ministries to crack down on online fraud and strengthen network security publicity.

Hun Manet also said that a committee consisting of the prime minister and deputy prime minister will be set up to crack down on human trafficking.
