China Chamber of Commerce for Machinery and Electronics: Firmly support the ruling!

Recently, the Ministry of Commerce of China issued an announcement on the ruling of anti-discrimination investigation on Canada’s relevant restrictive measures against China. The investigation agency determined that the relevant investigated measures of Canada constituted Article 7 of the “Foreign Trade Law of the People’s Republic of China” “discriminatory prohibitions, restrictions or other similar measures taken against China in trade”. The relevant measures have affected the normal trade order and have had a serious negative impact on China. Anti-discrimination measures will be taken against Canada.

Since the case was filed, the China Chamber of Commerce for Import and Export of Machinery and Electronic Products has paid close attention to the progress of this investigation, firmly supports the Ministry of Commerce of China to conduct investigations in accordance with laws and regulations, and fully recognizes the fair ruling made. This move by the Ministry of Commerce not only reflects China’s determination to maintain the international economic and trade order, but is also a necessary action to defend the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies. The China Chamber of Commerce for Machinery and Electronics calls for international economic and trade cooperation to be based on the principles of fairness, justice and non-discrimination, and any violation of these principles should be properly corrected.

Since August 2024, Canada has ignored the reminders and dissuasion of all parties and insisted on taking discriminatory unilateral restrictive measures against Chinese imports. These measures not only seriously hinder the normal economic and trade cooperation between Chinese and Canadian enterprises, but also damage the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese industry enterprises. More seriously, Canada’s actions have undermined international economic and trade rules and order, and have had a negative impact on the security and stability of global trade and economic development.

The China Chamber of Commerce of Machinery and Electrical Equipment hereby solemnly calls on Canada to immediately stop this wrong practice. It is hoped that Canada can maintain the independence of its trade policy and provide a pragmatic, fair, non-discriminatory and predictable environment for the two countries’ enterprises to carry out normal trade and cooperation. At the same time, the China Chamber of Commerce of Machinery and Electrical Equipment also calls on both sides to work together to promote the sustainable development of the global industry and contribute to the stability and prosperity of the world economy.
