Serious epidemic breaks out in Bangladesh, more than 100 children die
A severe measles epidemic broke out in Bangladesh, with mainly young children infected. In less than a month, more than 100 children died, and there were more than 7,500 suspected cases. The country’s government is working with the United Nations to launch emergency vaccinations to control the spread of the epidemic.
emergency vaccination measures
Coverage: Plans to vaccinate 1.2 million children aged 6 months to 5 years old, with priority given to 18 high-risk areas and children who have not completed routine vaccination.
International cooperation: The World Health Organization, UNICEF and other agencies provide support, focusing on densely populated areas such as Dhaka and refugee camps.
Immunity Gap: There are prominent cases of infection in infants under 9 months old. Since they have not reached the age of routine vaccination, they have become a difficulty in prevention and control.
