Trump: US airstrike on Iran is comparable to bombing Hiroshima and Nagasaki
Trump said bombing Iran’s nuclear facilities is essentially the same as dropping atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and the Japanese government responded
According to Japan’s “Daily News” on June 26, US President Trump recently compared the US bombing of Iran’s nuclear facilities with the dropping of atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki during World War II, saying that “from the perspective of ending the war, the two are essentially the same.” According to reports, Trump’s remarks have caused controversy in Japan, and Japanese “atomic bomb victims” are angry about this. However, at a press conference on the 26th, Japanese Chief Cabinet Secretary Yoshimasa Hayashi did not make direct specific comments when asked about this topic.
According to reports, Hayashi Yoshimasa said that the atomic bombing claimed a large number of lives and led to “an extremely regrettable situation from a humanitarian perspective.” However, in response to Trump’s remarks, Hayashi Yoshimasa said, “Comments on historical matters should be left to experts for discussion.” When asked whether the Japanese government would protest to the United States on this matter, Hayashi Yoshimasa only replied, “We have conveyed Japan’s basic position on the atomic bombing to the United States many times, and will continue to maintain close communication with the United States.”
Yashi Yoshimasa’s response to Trump’s remarks made some Japanese netizens dissatisfied. Some Japanese netizens criticized, “It’s really shameful. Don’t you want to resist the United States?” Some people said, “I guess you dare not speak out, it’s really sad.”
Trump confirmed on the 21st local time that the US military “successfully attacked” Iran’s three nuclear facilities in Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan. On the 25th, Trump compared the US air strikes on Iran’s three nuclear facilities with the US dropping nuclear weapons on Japan to end World War II. He said, “That strike ended the war. I don’t want to cite the example of Hiroshima or Nagasaki, but this air strike is essentially the same as the action that ended that war.”
