Tesla and BMW file lawsuit with EU Court over anti-subsidy investigation on electric vehicles
The European Commission confirmed on January 27 local time that Tesla and BMW have filed a lawsuit with the EU Court against the imposition of tariffs on electric vehicles imported from China.
EU Commission spokesman Olof Gill said on the same day that the EU has taken note of these cases and will defend itself in court.
Last October, despite opposition from all parties, the European Commission insisted on imposing anti-subsidy duties on electric vehicles imported from China for a period of five years. Since then, many companies have questioned the European Commission’s identification and calculation of subsidies in anti-subsidy investigations, as well as the damage caused by subsidies to the EU single market.
