Angola cholera outbreak has killed 32 people
Angola’s Ministry of Health reported on the 21st that as of the evening of that day, 671 cases of cholera had been reported nationwide, of which 32 people died.
According to data from the Angolan Ministry of Health, this round of cholera outbreak is mainly concentrated in Luanda Province. A large number of children aged 2 to 9 were infected, with a total of 168 cases and 10 deaths reported in this age group.
The Angolan Ministry of Health announced an outbreak of cholera in the country earlier this year, and said it had launched an emergency response plan to strengthen disinfection, epidemiological investigations and laboratory testing in key areas.
Cholera is an acute intestinal infectious disease caused by Vibrio cholerae, which is mainly transmitted through unclean water and food. Patients often experience symptoms such as vomiting, diarrhea, dehydration and high fever. Severe illness and delayed treatment can lead to death.
