The U.S. Department of Commerce announced on October 6 that it would add 42 Chinese companies and groups to the list of export bans in principle. The sanctions were imposed due to the provision of relevant technology to Russia that contributes to the development of military products.

The U.S. Department of Commerce said these companies and groups provided integrated circuits (ICs) containing U.S. technology to Russia. U.S. analysts believe that Russia is using these technologies to develop missile and drone guidance systems.

U.S. Assistant Secretary of Commerce Axelrod explained, “If technology originating from the United States is provided to the Russian defense sector, we will find out the truth and take action,” indicating a policy of tightening controls in the future.

The U.S. Department of Commerce just put China’s Asia Pacific Links on the export ban list in September, believing that the company plans to supply parts to Russian drones.
