Germany, Sweden, and Slovakia Urge Citizens Against Traveling to Iran
According to reports from Xinhua News Agency correspondents abroad: Germany, Sweden, and Slovakia have recently urged their citizens to avoid traveling to Iran and have advised their citizens already in Iran to leave as soon as possible.
The German Embassy in Iran updated its travel and security advisory for Iran on the 21st, warning German citizens against traveling to Iran and requesting those already in Iran to leave, stating that the embassy can currently only provide limited consular assistance.
The advisory stated that the security situation in Iran and the surrounding region is extremely unstable and tense. The possibility of further deterioration and military conflict cannot be ruled out. Air traffic may be subject to stricter restrictions at any time, including flight cancellations and airspace closures.
Swedish Foreign Minister Stjälläd posted on social media on the 20th that the development of the situation in Iran and the region is “highly uncertain.” The Swedish Foreign Ministry maintains its highest-level travel warning for Iran and continues to “advise against all travel to Iran.” She stated that it is still possible to leave Iran by air and land border crossings. She urged Swedish citizens to leave immediately and not wait and see.
The Slovak Embassy in Iran issued a notice on its website on the 19th, warning Slovak citizens against traveling to Iran. The notice stated that the security situation in Iran and the Middle East continues to deteriorate, advising citizens already in Iran to leave as soon as possible; those who must remain in Iran are advised to closely monitor current events and social media, and avoid places where large-scale gatherings and protests may occur, especially at night.
