TikTok helps jeans crowdfund project $35,000 in 9 hours
Welsh entrepreneur and designer Osian Gwynedd is using the social media boom as an opportunity to capitalise on the powerful social media platform for his own benefit. His new Kickstarter campaign, which promotes his carefully crafted line of jeans for men and women, reached a goal of nearly $35,000 in just 9.5 hours after going live. It can be said thatnot only helped lead the new market trend of jeans, but also provided important support for shaping the way of design.
Osian Gwynedd, owner of the adventurous lifestyle brand Antur Supply Co. first embarked on his jeans product adventure in January 2020, a project designed to provide the market with jeans that offer comfort, fit and durability– He said that the quality he was looking for was almost impossible to find in similar jeans currently on the market.
Throughout the design process, he took to social media to spread his ideas to his fans and promote the upcoming launch, and ultimately received valuable input from fans to shape his product journey with the outside world.
“Documenting the process on TikTok meant that we could make changes to the design based on the preferences of our community users. By going viral through the platform, we were able to get a highly accurate email list so we could harvest supporters as soon as the The project went live.” He said.
After Osian Gwynedd posted a video on TikTok comparing the deep pockets of his jeans to those of other brands, including Zara and Levi’s, he went deeper into the jeans in response to overwhelming feedback from fans. The video was posted in late July and has since garnered more than 296,000 likes and 3,600 comments. After that, he also uploaded the video to Instagram.
Antur Supply Co. reports that the Osian Gwynedd-designed jeans are particularly unusual in that they are made from a fabric that is 30 percent more breathable and four times more flexible than traditional denim. The cotton, Lycra and Lycra Coolmax blends provide consumers with practical wear features such as freedom of movement, breathability and body temperature regulation.Other features include reinforced gussets, safety back pockets and Rudolf Group’s Silverplus coating for water, antibacterial and odour resistance.
The jeans are sewn with Coats Epic EcoVerde thread, a premium polyester core-spun sewing thread made from 100% recycled material that creates abrasion-resistant and beautiful seams. Early bird prices range from $90 (65 pounds) for a pair to $414 (302 pounds) for five pairs. Customers can get orders on the Kickstarter page before the campaign ends on September 16, 2021. Following production and quality control, Gwynedd expects the product to be delivered in March 2022.
