China approves import of 449 types of Japanese aquatic products
The General Administration of Customs of China has approved the import of 449 types of aquatic products such as scallops, tuna, and squid from Japan. The General Administration of Customs of China announced the list of varieties approved for import on its official website before July 17. The relevant procedures for resuming the import of Japanese aquatic products are being promoted.
On July 11, the General Administration of Customs of China approved the registration required for three Japanese companies with Hokkaido and Aomori prefectures to supply China. After that, the list of varieties approved for import was announced. Japanese exporters are also required to submit radioactive material inspection certificates and origin certificates issued by Japanese government agencies.
On July 6, the Chinese government announced the resumption of imports of Japanese aquatic products that had been suspended due to the discharge of nuclear treated water from the Fukushima Daiichi Nuclear Power Plant of Tokyo Electric Power Company. The target is aquatic products from 37 prefectures in Japan, and 10 prefectures such as Fukushima and Tokyo are not included.
