The average monthly salary in Kazakhstan is 340,000 tenge
International Business News – The average salary in the Atyrau region is 81.5% higher than the national average, Irgaliev Aset Armanovich, head of Kazakhstan’s Agency for Strategic Planning and Reforms, said on Monday in response to a question from members of the Majlis (lower house of parliament).
He noted that according to the data of the first quarter of 2023 report on business operations in the regions, the national average monthly salary is 340,636 thousand tenge. Atyrau oblast has the highest salary level, with an average monthly salary of 618,420 tenge as of the first quarter of 2023, 81.5 percent higher than the national average, followed by Mangystau Province, where the average monthly salary is 1.5 times higher than the national average. This is due to the fact that the mining industry is more developed in these regions, which contributes to the increase in the average salary level. As of the first quarter of 2023, the average salary of employees in mining companies was 766,555,000 tenge, which is 2.2 times higher than the national average.
He said that in some regions the monthly salary level is much lower than the national average.
Irgaliev Aset Armanovich said, “For example, the monthly salary of employees in the North Kazakhstan region is 29.2% lower than the national average, and 27.7% lower in the Jetysu region. By industry, monthly salary levels in agriculture, forestry, fishing, water, waste collection, treatment and destruction, pollutant removal services, arts, entertainment and recreation are below the national average.”
