Kazakhstan to implement a six-month ban on timber exports


International Business News – The Ministry of Industry and Infrastructure Development of Kazakhstan has prepared a draft order on the prohibition of export of certain types of wood from Kazakhstan and published the draft on the portal of open government information for discussion by the citizens, according to the Kazakhstan News Agency.

The draft provides for the prohibition of export of wood with commodity codes 4401 (logs for fuel), 4403 (unprocessed wood for fuel), 4404 (unprocessed wood piles), 4406 (logs for railroad or tramway tracks) and 4407 (wood sawn with saw blades of more than 6 mm thickness) for the next six months.

According to the draft, the Kazakh State Revenue Committee, the Border Guard Service and the Kazakhstan State Railways will take measures to ensure the implementation of the ban.
