Former mayor of Arkhangelsk announces establishment of Russian cola company

The former mayor of Arkhangelsk, Alexander Donskoy, has announced that he will produce the Russian equivalent of Coca-Cola, a drink branded as Russian Coke that plans to use herbs, roots and berries from the Altai region. Coca-Cola had earlier announced its withdrawal from the Russian market.

Donskoy printed the image of the Virgin Mary on beverage bottle labels. He also said that the soda will be produced by a company in Arkhangelsk.

According to Donskoy, the taste of Russian cola will be as close as possible to the famous drink, but at the same time it will show its national originality. The first test products will go on sale this summer.
