Wohnungsunternehmen: Hope Germany restarts nuclear power generation

The Wohnungsunternehme (VNW) wants nuclear and coal-fired power plants to continue to be used on a transitional basis due to rising energy prices in Europe as a result of the war between Russia and Ukraine.

The goal must be to ensure energy and security of supply and that residents and businesses can afford to pay for energy, VNW Director Andreas Breitner said in Hamburg on Thursday: “We are facing a serious rise in energy prices and it is time not to abandon the use of nuclear power and coal out of fear, we should change our mindset.”

Moorburg was connected to the grid in 2015 and closed again in 2021. “From today’s point of view, this is a huge mistake, and it’s not too late to correct.” Breitner said.
